#MSConf, kitlesel gözetim teknolojileri ve otoriter yönetimler üzerine yıllık olarak düzenlenen bir düşünce ve tartışma etkinliğidir.
Freedom House, yıllık olarak yayınlanan İnternet Özgürlüğü raporunun en son
sayısında "Dijital Otoriterliğin Yükselişi” konusunu merkeze aldı. Devletler,
özellikle de otoriter devletler, bireysel hak ve özgürlüklerimizi giderek sınırlayıcı
surette dijital kapasitelerini artırmaya devam ediyor. Bundan birinci derece
etkilenenler ise çevrimiçi mahremiyetimiz ve dijital haklarımız.
#MSConf2019'da dünyanın farklı yerlerinden gelen akademisyen, gazeteci, dijital
aktivist ve teknoloji takipçileri ile kitlesel gözetim teknolojilerinin insan hakları,
yönetişim, devlet ve toplum üzerindeki olası kısa ve uzun vadeli etkileri üzerine
düşünecek ve konuşacağız.
Ann Cathrin Riedel
Ann Cathrin Riedel is chairwoman of LOAD e.V. - an association for liberal internet policy. With her agency UP DIGITAL MEDIA she develops strategies for digital political communication. She was a lecturer at the HS Fresenius in Düsseldorf and was included in the list of 65 "Faces of the Future" under the 35th place by the magazine "Politik & Kommunikation".
She is a member of the working groups "Ethics in Digitalization" and "Algorithm Monitoring" of Initiative D21. In her functions she publishes and speaks regularly about ethics and civil rights, freedom of expression and communication in the digital space, as well as digital sovereignty.
Rima Sghaier is an international citizen born in Tunisia and currently based in Milan, where she leads outreach and localization efforts at the Hermes Center for Transparency and Digital Human Rights, managing and contributing to projects to support NGOs, media, and investigative journalists to create secure whistleblowing platforms.
She is the program manager of Digital Whistleblowing Fund, a small-grant project by the Hermes Center and Renewable Freedom Foundation that enables investigative journalism groups and human rights grassroots organisations to apply to receive financial, operational and strategic support in starting a secure digital whistleblowing initiative.
Rima holds degrees in Public Law and Political Science from the Faculty of Juridical, Political and Social Sciences of Tunis.
She has been active in various Tunisian and international human rights NGOs with a focus on youth empowerment, citizen journalism and the use of technology for social change.
As an independent researcher, she has been collaborating with the Hermes Center on Safe First Contact, a research project that aims to audit and improve digital security skills of communities at risk in MENA, being independent journalists/media, bloggers, religious minorities, civil society/political activists, sexual minorities and human rights NGOs/HRDs, for what relates to their first contact and community-building methods.
In July 2016, she was nominated by The Guardian as one of Africa’s top 10 emerging talents to lead the continent’s digital transformation.
Estelle is Senior Policy Analyst and Global Data Protection Lead at Access Now. Her work focuses on data protection, privacy, surveillance and telecoms policies. In particular, Estelle leads the work of the organisation on data protection in the EU and around the world. She is a member of the Multistakeholder Expert Group of the European Commission to support the application of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). She graduated with a Master in European Law from the University of Granada, Spain.
Erkan Saka is an Associate Professor at the School of Communication, Istanbul Bilgi University. He teaches on New Media Cultures and Cyber Anthropology. He is currently the director of Public Relations and Corporate Communication, MA Program at the same university. He did his BA and MA studies at the Sociology Department of Boğaziçi University, Istanbul. He received his PhD degree at the Anthropology Department at Rice University (Houston, TX). He has been a political blogger since 2004 June (http://erkansaka.net). He is a co-coordinator of a Citizen Journalism Training Program at Bilgi Eğitim and he coordinates and presents SosyalKafa, a TV show on new media cultures.
Coşkunoğlu is an industrial engineer and lecturer. He graduated from Civil Engineering Department of Middle East Technical University. He completed his master's degree in the same department at METU and his PhD in industrial and systems engineering at Georgia Institute of Technology. He served as a faculty member at the University of Illinois. He was a member of the Senate of the University of Illinois and a member of the Board of Directors of the Faculty of Engineering. He got the title of professor. He worked as a consultant in international organizations and a faculty member at the University of Milan. He worked as an instructor in the Department of Industrial Engineering at METU. He served as the President of the Social Democracy Association.
He was a member of Turkish Parliament from Usak in the 22nd Legislative term and was the Turkey-EU Joint Parliamentary Committee Member in the 23rd. He speaks fluent English and Italian and is currently the vice president of the Internet Society Turkish Chapter.
